Cristiano Ronaldo Stats

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says he is fairly pleased with his form in recent years as he further expanded his glittering trophy cabinet.

Fresh after winning the Golden Shoe award with Luis Suarez for being Europe’s top goal-scorers last season, Ronaldo was last night awarded Spanish newspaper Marca’s Pichichi award for being the top goal-scorer in Spain as well as the Alfredo Di Stefano award for being the best player in La Liga. The Portuguese captain has already scored 23 goals in 17 matches for his club this season, and believes he is currently at the top of his game.”Perhaps this is the best form I’ve ever been in but every year I try to improve on the previous one,” the global superstar said. The 29-year-old was modest as he downplayed his impressive tally of 275 goals in 263 matches for Los Blancos, insisting he is always looking to improve.”There will come a time when I cannot improve but I will at least be able to step up in terms of my figures,” he said. “My statistics, in goals and assists, aren’t so bad.

“I want to keep learning and working hard in the same way I have been doing up until now.”

Ronaldo is the favourite to win the 2014 Ballon d’Or trophy, and the talented goal-getter hopes he will be able to retain the crown he won earlier this year.

“Winning an award for a second or third time is always good,” he said. “My objective is always to win collectively, with the team, but also individually.

“I work very hard to be able to reach the level needed to win every kind of trophy. Playing football is what I enjoy and I will never tire of winning things.”

Ronaldo will now turn his focus from club to national duties as Portugal take on Armenia in Friday’s Euro 2016 qualifier, before facing nemesis Lionel Messi in an international friendly against Argentina at Old Trafford on 18 November.
